Korean Group Counseling Association
|
Group counseling in Korea began in 1970 and evolved from the "Friday Gathering" (1978) in Daegu-Gyeonbuk area to 'Developmental Counseling Association,' 'Korean Developmental Association,' and 'Korean Group Counseling Association.' Over a generation, group counseling in Korea have struggled to take root and grow in many ways.
Many milestones testify to the dynamic development of group counseling in Korea. Once group counselors began actively working in Daegu-Gyeongbuk area and elsewhere, group counselors formed a professional group in order to establish an institutional framework for their work. Soon, a certification system was installed to foster professionalism of group counselors. Group counseling association also played an active role in the establishment and development of KCA, and by Jaunary of 2007, it held the 11 th workshop. In addition to running observing groups and experiential groups successfully, the division has held annual academic conferences on various important topics. Moreover, group counseling has been an effective approach for implementing character education in schools, served as a training tool for training prospective counseling professionals, and acted as a measure for enhancing employee job performance in various companies.

Korean Association for Career Counseling
|
Since its foundation on February 17th, 1995 by a preparatory committee, the Korean Career Counseling Association has established a certification system for career counseling and produced many career counselors. In addition to vitalizing career counseling in Korea, the division also played an active role in the establishment and development of KCA.
Demand for career counseling service is endless with the turmoil of the labor market, transformation into digital generation, and high unemployment rate among well-educated people. The 'Occupational Outlook Handbook' (OOH, OOQ) of the U.S. and Japan all predict that the demand for career counselors will continue to increase. In particular, career counseling in Korea is high in demand as it has been going through changes in public perception of career counseling, expansion of employment and stability projects by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, increase in the awareness regarding national work productivity and importance of work, and an upsurge in demand for counseling services to help with work adjustment and career change.

Korean Child and Adolescent Counseling Association

(1) Increase public awareness and understanding of various mental health problems related to children and adolescents
(2) Educate counselors about effective counseling intervention methods or recent research trends in counseling to combat practical issues of children and adolescents.

Korean School Counseling Association
|
School Counseling Association hopes to vitalize and specialize school counseling at various educational settings through education and research. To this end, the division conducted research on various school counseling theories applicable to school settings. It spearheaded the development and delivery of school counseling skills and programs, and presented on many field studies and academic research. Through various workshops and case presentations, the division strives to improve the quality of its members.

Marriage and Family Counseling Division promotes academic research in marriage and family counseling, participates in intellectual exchange with other associations, advocates the rights and interests of its members, enhances professional quality of the members, and serves the local community.

1) Increase academic legitimacy and professionalism through research in NLP counseling theory and active international exchange
2) Strengthen quality standardization and morality of NLP counseling through the systemization of education, training and management, and supervision

Korean Military Counseling Association

Military Counseling Division seeks to establish identity and professionalism of military counseling. To facilitate expansion of services, the division seeks to enhance the qualification of its members and their counseling skills, promote academic research in military counseling, and advocate the rights and interests of its members.

Correction Counseling Association of Korea

Correction Counseling Division seeks to vitalize and specialize correction counseling through education and research. To this end, the division participates in intellectual exchange with other associations, advocates the rights and interests of its members, enhances professional quality of the members, and serves the local community.
Boundaries of correction counseling services are gradually expanding with the emphasis of governmental efforts moved from crime punishment to crime prevention. The division assists its members in acquiring the qualifications and skills for providing counseling services at correction facilities. Furthermore the division collaborates with local correction facilities and government branches to explore counseling measures and to generate political support.

Korean Workplace Counseling Association
|
'Workplace Counseling Research Group' of the Seoul-Gyeonggi-Incheon Chapter found in 2008 was the matrix of the current Workplace Counseling Division. On May 28, 2010, professional counselors at various workplaces, scholars of counseling studies, and business administrators of different companies came together to establish Workplace Counseling Division.
Workplace Counseling Division seeks to establish identity and professionalism of workplace counseling. In doing so, it hopes to develop workplace counseling models fit for various workplace environments, to expand its services and train professional counselors specialized in workplace counseling, advocate the rights and interests of its members and promote exchange of information among members.
In addition, the division will build academic foundation for workplace counseling and conduct relevant research, so increase public awareness of its effectiveness. Through these efforts, workplace counseling will go beyond the 'individual psychotherapy model' based on the employee welfare services, and be transformed as a 'human resources management model' and establish a new form of labor-management relations.
