Welcome to the ninth Korea Counseling Association – International Chapter conference in New Orleans. Every year, the KCA-IC conference is planned in conjunction with the American Counseling Association's (ACA) annual conference. The KCA-IC conference symbolizes the partnership between KCA-IC and ACA, which has been going strong for the past nine years. It also highlights KCA’s strong commitment and support of Korean scholars in the US. It’s been exciting to witness the growth of Korean counseling faculty and students in the US.
This year's conference theme is Building Bridges for Justice, Peace, and Reconciliation. Counselors are uniquely trained to listen and empathize and partner and collaborate. There is much need for caring and skilled people to facilitate meaningful conversation in our society. I believe counselor educators and counselors can be essential in bringing justice, peace, and reconciliation.
I want to express deep gratitude to KCA for their continuous support of the KCA-IC conference. Also, I want to highlight the KCA-IC board members for their diligence, hard work, and many late-night meetings preparing for this conference.
This year, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have a shortened conference. However, we have a great program, inviting scholars from Korea and the US to present their scholarly work and providing opportunities for mentorship and networking. I hope this conference will be a place where you connect with people, share and develop ideas, and relax and have fun.
